When the floods hit Nepal, my phone started ringing. Not with business questions. With fear. Anxiety. Families in complete overwhelm because their loved ones were missing. When something like this happens, your mind is naturally somewhere else. Yet life doesn’t always give you the luxury of pressing pause. Work still needs to happen. People still need you. Decisions still have to be taken.
That is when I am reminded that leadership is not about being calm all the time or having all the answers. Sometimes leadership is simply being able to hold yourself together enough to keep going. To acknowledge what is happening, feel what you are feeling, and yet show up for the people and responsibilities that depend on you. There may be no clear answer, no perfect decision and certainly no textbook for that moment.
Leadership Transformation Coaching
This is the space I work in through Leadership Transformation Coaching. Not to teach leaders how to perform leadership, but to work with what happens inside them, when there are no precedents to follow for when circumstances change overnight, leadership has to change too. And sometimes, transformation begins with learning how to lead yourself when life is anything but certain.
